02.What is the History of Town Shoes?
Town Shoes Ltd. is a Canadian; family owned and operated business, founded in 1952. Town Shoes carries hot labels for Men and Women, such as Lacoste, Puma, Diesel, Steve Madden, Franco Sarto, and BCBG. Plus exclusive to Town are collections by David Dixon, Philip Sparks, Kate and Mel, and Barbie.
Over 50 years ago, on May 15 1952, Leonard Simpson opened the first Town Shoes store in Toronto at Sunnybrook Plaza (Bayview and Eglinton), Canada’s first shopping centre. Just a one year later, Town opened its second store in Lawrence Plaza, Toronto. From that very first day, Town Shoes’ success has been largely attributable to always having a clear direction and a strong focus on its objectives. Town Shoes was, is, and always will be fashion and quality at affordable prices. Secondly, and equally important, is the company’s long standing basic philosophy of being a people place. Having the best customer service and a staff that is well treated with opportunities for advancement are the principles that have guided Town Shoes over the years.
In 2005, Town Shoes began its national wide expansion plan, opening its first stores outside of Ontario. Town Shoes has debuted in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia with many more stores planned for the next 10 years.
